General Skin Concerns
At Emana Medical, our expert providers have the knowledge, training, and experience to support clients with a variety of skin concerns. Below is a list of several of the many skin concerns we treat.
Acne is a common condition that involves blackhead, whiteheads, and pimples. While it usually affects adolescents, it’s also common in adults, particularly women. For some people, acne breakouts are subtle and primarily over the T-zone area. For others, however, they are more dramatic and lead to long-term scarring.
Rosacea causes flushing, chronic facial redness, and small visible blood vessels on the cheeks, nose, and forehead. It may also lead to dry, red, and irritated eyes as well as pimples and whiteheads. While the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, it frequently occurs in men and women with fair complexions, over the age of 30.
Eczema occurs when the skin becomes inflamed with redness, dryness, and itching. It may even cause small blisters. Not only can eczema disrupt everyday life, it may get in the way of a good night’s sleep. Studies show that certain genes can make skin more sensitive to immune reactions or outside triggers like cold, dry weather, triggering eczema.
Signs of sun damage include brown spots, texture changes, dullness, and hyperpigmentation. Unfortunately, the UV rays can cause all of these imperfections and reduce the production of collagen, the protein that keeps the skin young and healthy. Sun damage is a common concern, especially in those who have spent a lot of time outside basking in the sun without sunscreen or a hat. With time, sun-damaged skin can lead to skin cancer. Furthermore, family history and certain skin types are more prone to develop moles that can be cancerous. It is important to get a yearly skin cancer screening to catch suspicious moles and lesions and treat them appropriately early on.
Rashes come in all different shapes, sizes, colors and textures. Many rashes look the same, however treatments can be different. So it is important to seek expert advice about a rash you may have, in order to properly treat it.
Even if we take great care of our skin and stay away from the sun, fine lines and wrinkles are inevitable and become more pronounced with time. They are a natural part of aging. Fortunately, there are many ways to turn back the clock on wrinkles in virtually every part of the face.
