Chemical Peels
Emana offers a variety of chemical peels that leave the skin looking refreshed, smoother & brighter.

Chemical Peels

Emana Medical offers two different types of chemical peels to accommodate different skin concerns and patient goals. Some chemical peels are designed to exfoliate and soften the skin, while others help with redness or hyperpigmentation. Not all peels are created equal, so Dr. Eman will sit down with you to determine which chemical peel is best for you. Emana Medical is proud to offer the following chemical peels:

VI PEEL

All are painless medium-depth VI Peels that are safe for all skin types and tones, resulting in as little as 7 days!
The VI Peel is a medical-grade, medium-strength peel that can treat a variety of skin concerns. It features a blend of powerful ingredients that lead to dramatic results with virtually no pain or downtime. Once applied, the VI Peel removes the top layer of the skin, revealing a brighter, smoother complexion.
At Emana Medical, we are pleased to offer the VI Peel Precision Plus and VI Peel Purify Precision Plus. The VI Peel Precision Plus is ideal for pigmentation, sun damage, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
It exfoliates the skin to fade pigmentation and textural issues while promoting rapid cell turnover for improved skin tone. The VI Peel Purify Precision Plus is specifically formulated for acne and acne scarring. It combats active acne while reducing the appearance of scars and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

VI Peel has developed 6 custom peels to choose from:

A chemical peel is the application of a solution,
such as alpha hydroxy acid, beta hydroxy acid, or trichloroacetic acid. They range in intensity from low-grade (or light) with minimal downtime to aggressive (or deep). The lighter the chemical peel, the more frequently they can be performed. The more aggressive, the more side effects and length of recovery time one can expect, though the reward may be greater.

FAQS

How do chemical peels work?

A chemical peel stimulates exfoliation to remove the outer – most layers of skin. Our skin exfoliates naturally (in fact, you’re shedding a ton of old skin cells as you read this), but as we age, that exfoliation process (aka, cell turnover) slows and old cells are slower to fall away. Exfoliation instigates your body’s cell turnover process to encourage new cells to the surface, and those cells are fresher, plumper, and help give skin a noticeable smoothness.

What skin type are chemical peels best for?

A chemical peel is best suited for helping skin shed stubborn discoloration, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and post-acne scarring, as well as stimulating new collagen production. Chemical peels can help with the look of wrinkles, as they lift away dead skin cells that can make a wrinkle look more intense. Though a chemical peel may not completely resolve sagging skin issues, it can help tighten the look of the skin due to new collagen production.

What are some potential chemical peel side effects?

Chemical peel side effects can include anything from flushing during treatment to sustained redness after the treatment, swelling, crusting, and peeling. (NEVER pick scabs or skin that begins peeling, as this could cause intense pain and permanent skin damage.) A chemical peel for darker skin tones may experience darkening or lightening of the skin, which is why a chemical peel should only be performed by a dermatological professional who has a thorough understanding of skin care products and the Fitzpatrick skin types. In addition, you can opt to get a chemical peel that is proven safe and effective for darker skin tones, like the VI Peel, the world’s first painless and skin tone inclusive medium-depth chemical peel.

What can I expect with a VI Peel?

A VI Peel is a fast treatment, requiring only about 30 minutes to complete and should expect the recovery to take about seven days. Once the peeling process is completed, you are left with brighter, glowing skin. Sunscreen should be worn daily until the skin is fully healed.

TCA Chemical Peel

Trichloroacetic Acid, often referred to as TCA, is an effective chemical agent used to exfoliate and renew the skin on a superficial to a deep level. TCA is commonly applied to the face, neck, décolleté, hands, and legs. In addition, TCA is also an excellent “spot treatment ” and can be used to exclusively peel isolated areas of the skin.

A TCA peel is one of many types of chemical peel, a cosmetic procedure that involves using acids to remove damaged skin cells to exfoliate the skin. TCA peels are typically medium-depth. This means they remove the top layer of skin and only a small amount of the underlying layer.

The trichloroacetic acid or TCA peel can rejuvenate your skin and leave it with the fresh, youthful look you desire. Unlike other peels that are formulated with glycolic acid or salicylic acid, TCA peels can penetrate much deeper in the skin. At Emana Medical, we recommend TCA peels to treat a variety of skin concerns including fine lines, acne, acne scars, sun damage, sun spots, excessive freckles, melasma, broken blood vessels, spider veins, and roughness.
After our expert providers apply the peel, you can expect the top layer of your skin to flake off or peel away, naturally. On average, this process lasts between 5 to 7 days but may take longer. Once it’s complete, you’ll enjoy a visibly smoother, softer, and more even complexion.

TCA Chemical Peel Benefits

TCA Peeling Process

In some cases, the skin will have temporary anesthesia or numbing effect. The skin may appear red or dark for several days while recovering from the peel. Your skin should begin to balance out within a few weeks.

What skin type are chemical peels best for?

Trichloroacetic is generally safe for most skin types particularly normal to oily, sun damaged, dull, and uneven skin. Sensitive skin should progress product potency over time.
